Process-local application identity for Python’s macOS launcher.

mpylab.gui.macos.set_process_name(name)

Set Cocoa’s application name before Qt initializes the native menu.

Parameters:

name (str) – Human-readable application name.

Raises:

MemoryError – Core Foundation cannot allocate a name or dictionary key.

Notes

Python’s framework launcher supplies its own CFBundleName. Qt uses that value for native About/Quit menus even when applicationName is set. Update only this process’s in-memory bundle dictionary; no Info.plist or interpreter installation is changed. Other platforms need no adjustment.
